How to find a Babysitter in Paris
Whether it’s due to work or children, we know that expats’ schedules can be very busy and you may be in need of a helping hand with your children.
Where can you find childcare whilst in Paris as an expat? You may be in need of someone to collect your children from school or a bilingual babysitter. So, here are three solutions which may help to relieve the stress of childcare and allow you time for other things:
1. Through an Agency
👍: They manage everything (administration, post, offer, recruitment…)
👎: Much more expensive than doing it on your own through specialised websites
Online platform that helps you to find a bilingual babysitter. Their babysitters can look after up to 4 children per family for up to 50 hours per week. Provides bilingual babysitters in over 5 languages.
Agency which choses and organises nannies before posting them online. You can then meet the nannies that you are considering before choosing to use them Kinougarde will then act as a point of contact and arrange scheduling for you.

Home-based childcare in a foreign language
Hand-picked Babysitters, also offers some extra services. Such as cleaner, gardener…
2. Listings Online
👍: The most popular option because of the flexibility of the schedule and the price. Moreover, it’s more personalised to your child and less expensive than an agency.
You can find babysitters who will:
– pick up your child from school and bring them home
– prepare snacks, dinner, and a bath, and help around the house
– be bilingual, it’s increasingly popular in Paris to have a bilingual babysitter
The price is generally more than minimum wage and can change depending on the area and babysitter. So, in Paris it’s around 8 to 10€ per hour.
👎: Fewer background checks. Posting the offer and recruitment are both up to you and it’s your responsibility to verify who people are.
Allows you to post a listing in search of a babysitter and receive applications. With a rating system that works just like Uber, you can see if the babysitter you has had positive feedback from other families.
This site offers many goods and services, including babysitting. It’s similar to Gumtree in the UK and the States. However, to become a member of this platform, you need to ask at least 3 people who already have an account to invite you. Once you’ve signed up, the platform gives you access to listings of people that offer babysitting services. Available both online and on an app.
3. Through Other People (friends, neighbours…)
👍: More efficient, trustworthy and personal
👎: If the babysitter works in several families, they may have less availability.
However, they may be able to suggest a friend/family member to replace them.
1. The minimal legal salary in France is 8,35€/hour (10% paid holidays included).
